As previously mentioned, the fard (Obligatory) actions of salaah are 12 and are divided into two categories:
- The six Shuroot/Sharaait (Preconditions) - those that are obligatory before and during the salaah, and
- The six Arkaan (Pillars) - those that are obligatory within the salaah itself.
We have covered the Preconditions here:
In this section, we cover the Arkaan (Pillars). The Arkaan form the essential building blocks of Salaah. The Salaah will be invalid if any one of the Arkaan remains unfulfilled, even if accidentally, i.e. repeating the salaah will be required.
Each position is covered in more detail later on - at this stage simply familiarise yourself with the positions.
Takbeer al-Tahreemah is in fact a shart (Condition) of salaah but is also often included in the Arkaan (Pillars) as it effectively marks the start of salaah.
Takbeer al-Tahreemah means the Takbeer of Prohibition as all worldly thoughts and actions become forbidden thereafter.
Takbeer al-Tahreemah is also referred to as Takbeer al-Iftitah (The Opening Takbir) as it is the first takbeer of salaah.
